Faculty Question of the Week
Each week we'll use this space to share a question (or more!) that we've received about Quercus and other Academic Toolbox tools.
This week's question is: "Why are the grades I exported from Crowdmark not visible in Quercus?"
This Week's Faculty Question
Q: I exported the grades for a term test (called Midterm 1) from Crowdmark to Quercus. The export seemed to go well and a column called Midterm 1 was created in the Quercus gradebook. However, the column is empty - no marks were transferred over from Crowdmark to Quercus. Do you know why that might have happened?
A: This typically occurs when students have been added manually to Crowdmark via a CSV file, instead of via the 'Enrol students from Quercus' option ([1] in the image below). If you used a CSV file (i.e., the 'Enrol students' option below [2]) to add students to your Crowdmark course, the grade export will not be successful in Quercus.
However, you can download the grades from Crowdmark (using the Export Grades as CSV option shown below) and upload to the Gradebook Column in Quercus called Midterm 1 by using the UT OMR tool.
For instructions and information, please have a look at our guide: How do I upload grades via the UT OMR Grade Upload Tool?
What can you do for your next assessment?
For the next assessment, you can sync the student list with Quercus before exporting the grades. That should then allow you to export the grades directly to Quercus:
- Select the Student tab,
- Select Sync with Quercus.
