The EdTech Workshop 2023 is back in person!

Join us on May 17, 2023 in the Myhal Centre! Register now!

What are the event details?

Hosted by the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, the EdTech Workshop 2023: CTRL +shift is a one-day, in person event featuring informal sessions (demonstrations, case studies, panels, etc.) led by instructors and staff from across the three U of T campuses.  This year's theme, CTRL +Shift, is a play on using the modifier keys on a standard keyboard (sorry Mac users, these are Windows shortcuts). For example, if you used CTRL +Shift + v, then you can paste without any formatting, keeping only the text (removing the extraneous and keeping what you need). If you used Ctrl + Shift + N, you could create a new folder to store files (a digital place for new ideas). The EdTech Workshop 2023 provides a space and place to discuss identifying your own essentials, how/if your values have "shifted" (the theme has metaphorical and literal aspects), and how to achieve them effectively and efficiently.

How will the day run?

Attendees will register for the event in the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship and enjoy a continental breakfast. We'll begin with a welcome from Prof. Tom Coyle, Vice Dean, Undergraduate, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering (FASE). Our two keynotes will be delivered back-to-back in MY50: Prof. Susan McCahan, Vice-Provost, Academic Programs and Vice-Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education, followed by Dr. Nidhi Sachdeva.

After the keynotes, attendees can then self-select between sessions (see the event website for more details about the session leaders and sessions). There's no need to sign up (for specific sessions but we do ask that you register for the event as a whole); pick your sessions based on what you are interested in. We'll break for lunch (included) and then continue with sessions in the afternoon.

In addition to the sessions, attendees can choose to participate in hands-on demonstrations (haven't had a chance to explore the Myhal Visualization Centre? This is your chance!) and gamified activities (Are you digital or analogue? Discover your true nature!). We'll close the day with a brief wrap up and announce our prize winners.

We hope you'll spend the day listening to, and learning from, others' perspectives and leave with new ideas (and hopefully a few easy-to-implement but new-to-you shortcuts). If you'd like to join us, register now! There is no registration fee for members of the U of T community.
