Updated Features | |
Category | Communication within Gradebook |
Date of change | June 1st, 2019 |
Info | The Canvas gradebook has a feature called "Message Students who" which allows you to message groups of students based on their status in relation to a specific assignment. |
Update |
The Message Students Who window displays names in alphabetical order. When an instructor accesses an assignment column and clicks the Message Students Who option, any names that display in the window are displayed in alphabetical order (first name, last name). The list of names remained alphabetical when a different messaging criterion is selected. Student names can be removed manually from the list at any time. |
Benefit | This change allows instructors to find student names in the window more easily. |

This Week's Faculty Question | |
Category | Hiding Gradebook column |
Question: Is it possible to hide a column in the gradebook? |
|
Answer: Since the columns in the gradebook only appear when assignments are published, the only way to to "hide" a column in Grades, is to unpublish the Assignment. Doing this will also hide the Assignment from the students until it is published again. If you want to hide the item from students, without unpublishing, you can Mute the Assignment in the Grades area.
