Canvas Update

Instructure's most recent Canvas update was released on April 17th.

New Quizzes

The Multiple Attempts menu includes an option to retain the first score for grading when multiple submission attempts are allowed. Please note that we still recommend using classic quizzes for assignments and final assessments.

Accessibility - Gradebook

For students, the tooltip has been updated for assignments with a manual post policy. The tooltip has been updated as Instructor has not posted this grade.

This Week's Faculty Question

Q: My students uploaded PDF files as submissions for a recent assignment. I left annotated feedback on their submissions in SpeedGrader. However, my students have been emailing me saying that they can’t see the annotations when they download the file and open it in their browser.

A: The comments and other feedback added as annotations will not show in a PDF viewed in a browser. To view the comments on the annotated PDF, students need to download the file and open it on their computer using Adobe Reader or another PDF viewer. If they view the downloaded document in their browser, they will not be able to see the annotations.

For more information on viewing annotated comments for their submissions, you can also refer students to the following Canvas guide: How do I view annotation feedback comments from my instructor directly in my assignment submission?
