Module Overview
We conclude our study of limits - at least for now. With this unit's material, we expand the uses for limits and our understanding of how they work. We will also get to see some interesting extensions to our idea of limits, and finally examine the property of continuity.
Learning Outcomes
- Section 2.4 looks at vertical asymptotes. When we examine a function like 1/x, we can clearly tell what it is doing as x approaches 0, but now we will be able to write it formally.
- Section 2.5 focuses on horizontal asymptotes. We create a way to talk about how functions behave for very large values of x.
- Section 2.6 deals with continuity, a property that we have taken for granted so far, despite using it very often.
