Module Overview
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the following crystal structures: body centred cubic, diamond cubic, zinc blende, fluorite, perovskite
- Calculate the geometrically ideal interstitial site size for the following interstitial sites: tetrahedral, octahedral, simple cubic
- Sketch crystallographic vectors within cubic unit cells, given the direction indices
- Sketch crystallographic planes within cubic unit cells, given the Miller indices
- Determine the correct direction indices given a crystallographic vector drawn within a cubic unit cell
- Determine the correct Miller indices given a crystallographic plane drawn within a cubic unit cell
- Show how the seven crystal systems are defined by combinations of three angles and three lattice parameters
