Module Overview
In this module, a series of actual case studies from building science practitioners and researchers are presented to illustrate how building science fundamentals impact building performance. Each case study begins with a background section or introduction to the problem. This is followed by a discussion of the investigations undertaken and the findings. Next, the fundamental building science principles affecting the building are examined and solutions to problem are proposed.
Learning Outcomes
- Explain some of the ways in which heat, air and moisture movement as well as solar radiation can impact building performance in unintended ways
- Describe how to investigate a particular building science problem and critically analyze the findings
- Develop realistic solutions to some of the actual challenges presented
