What's happening in the world of FASE EdTech this month? In this issue, we're recapping the EdTech Workshop (ETWS) 2023: CTRL +Shift! Held on May 17, 2023 in the Myhal Centre, the Workshop saw about 275 people vie for one button maker (who knew buttons would be so popular?). But more seriously, we can't thank the speakers, volunteers and attendees enough - you made it a wonderful day! |

DESIGN TIPS
1. You better not be acting like you're in a Wes Anderson film at the EdTech Workshop!
We sure are! For this year's recap video of the EdTech Workshop, we wanted to try something a little different from previous years (you can watch the 2021 and 2019 videos, too!). The backstory - in April, content creator Ava Williams started a new trend on social media when she posted a quick travel video produced in the style of Wes Anderson. Anderson is the director of such films as Life Aquatic and The Grand Budapest Hotel and his work is distinct in its look, feel, and sound.
Instead of producing a video that was a sequence of b-roll shots, we decided to be more intentional in our approach (see Making the EdTech Recap Video: An Intentional and Collaborative Approach for a deep dive) and jump on the Wes Anderson train (which probably looks like the one from his other film The Darjeeling Limited). This video was made possible by our creative and collaborative production team, all of our willing on-screen participants (listed in the video caption below) and Marisa's editing magic.

Add your pronouns on your O365 profile
This month's big impact, low time tip is to specify your pronouns! Personal Pronouns settings are now available in MS Teams and Outlook (see Pronouns on your profile in Microsoft 365). It's available via your profile card (which you can access by selecting on your profile image in the top right corner of most O365 apps like MS Teams).

4. Welcome James Zhan
The ETO is thrilled to introduce our newest team member: James Zhan! James is our new Education Media Specialist and will be working on projects like Exploration Studies Resources and Reserve (ESRR), the Sharps Safety Module, and ePump. You might have already met James at the EdTech Workshop 2023, where he joined us a bit early to help out with the event.

James is a media production professional specializing in audio engineering and educational video production. He is passionate about everything related to multimedia, technology, and audio-visual equipment. Over the 8 years he’s worked in media production, he has acquired a wide range of skills such as audio mixing and mastering, video editing, motion graphic design, photography, and workshop instruction.
