What is a special academic filming session?
This is course-related content that is not a regular lecture. This type of content is typically reusable and captured on campus, but it is not a regular, repeating filming request. Some examples of this type of filming include:
- A demonstration in a lab
- A guest speaker or panel discussion in a lecture room
- Student presentations to be shared with current and future cohorts
- An interview with a subject-matter-expert at a location secured by the instructor
What does this service include?
All requests begin with a consultation with the Education Technology Office (ETO) to determine the scope and logistics of the filming request. We recommend submitting your request at least two weeks in advance to allow time for planning and scheduling. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible, so that you can focus on the content. If our office can support your request, and depending on the project requirements, this service can include any or all of the following:
- Pre-Production: Consultation on the learning outcomes of the content, recommended media format(s), location, and scripting (if required)
- Production: Full set-up and teardown of filming equipment provided by the ETO (camera, lights, microphones) and on-camera direction (if requested)
- Post-Production: Editing (colour grading, sound mixing, and simple graphic elements), 1-2 rounds of feedback, and the delivery of an approved full-resolution file that the instructor can upload to their preferred channel(s)
