Facilitator: Brian Malone, Customer Success Manager, Hypothesis
In this one-hour session, the Hypothesis team will demonstrate how social annotation can transform digital reading into an active, inclusive, and engaging process. Participants will learn how to create annotation assignments in their LMS and explore new Hypothesis features including at mentions, automatic grading, and image annotation. The session will highlight how Hypothesis aligns with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles by allowing for multiple means of representation and expression, helping all students access and engage with course content. Additionally, the session will address how digital environments and generative AI are reshaping student reading habits, and how Hypothesis can support close reading, critical thinking, and authentic interaction in this context. The session includes pedagogical strategies and ready-to-use ideas for using Hypothesis in any course.
