How to handle grading gripes and time crunches as a TA: GradLife + TATP (In-Person)

December 4, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Being a teaching assistant during the end of term can feel overwhelming! You’ve got piles of assignments to grade, students contacting you who are unhappy with their marks, and your own deadlines quickly approaching. This workshop is specifically designed for graduate students in TA roles who are navigating the intense demands of grading season (and intense demands of graded students).

This workshop will be led by expert facilitators and experienced TAs. It will help participants:

  • Understand best practices for fair, consistent, and efficient grading
  • Apply professional and empathetic communication techniques when responding to student complaints and regrade requests (without making you want to pull out your hair!)
  • Develop techniques for managing your time and workload when you’re balancing your own final assignments or research

A small treat will also be provided for all attendees!

This workshop is brought to you by the Teaching Assistants’ Training Program in partnership with GradLife.

Accessibility notes:

  • This workshop will include some participation, but you can choose to engage at a level that feels comfortable to you.
  •  The space is wheelchair accessible.
  • Gender inclusive washrooms are available in the building.
