Start Strong: Learning Together

August 21, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Start Strong with your Quercus course this fall!

The ETO is relaunching Start Strong: Learning Together this summer with a series of hands-on Learn Together sessions to help FASE instructors get their Quercus courses ready for fall.

These interactive workshops are designed around the Start Strong asynchronous online modules and the Quercus Start-of-Term Checklist for Instructors and offer targeted support on course design, setup, assessments, and communication tools.

New for Summer 2025

This summer we’re offering the sessions in two formats:

  1. Online via Zoom, for flexible remote participation.
  2. In person in the ETO Studio (Room 3116, Bahen Centre for Information Technology), with attendance capped at 10 participants for personalized support.

Each session focuses on one of three key themes and is available in both online and in-person formats with registration links below.

Theme 1: Build and Organize Your Course: From Template to Homepage

Get hands-on with the FASE Quercus course template, streamline your course navigation, and build an accessible homepage.

Theme 2: Set Up and Manage Assessments and Grading in Quercus

Choose the right tools (Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions, and Crowdmark) for your online and in-person assessments, set up a weighted Gradebook, and streamline grading and feedback.

Theme 3: Use Quercus Tools and Backchannels for Better Communication

Explore Quercus communication tools (Announcements, Calendar, Inbox, Discussions), plus strategies for using backchannels like MS Teams and Piazza.

Have a question for the session moderator?

Let us know if advance by submitting your question on the registration form!

Can’t attend?

These sessions are interactive and they will not be recorded. If you can’t make a session, and are interested in this topic, please book a consultation.
