Microsoft is fully retiring MS Stream Classic, and after February 15, 2025, all redirected video links will stop working.
This change affects your video links if you used the EASI Stream Support Team's Migration Service (you should have already received a direct email from the Stream Support Team).
This update does not apply to you if you personally downloaded and re-uploaded your videos from MS Stream Classic to Stream on SharePoint or OneDrive.
What is happening?
During the transition from Stream Classic to Stream on SharePoint at U of T between 2023 and 2024, the Stream Support Team offered a Migration Assistance service to those with 30+ videos. This migration process created automatic redirect links from Stream Classic to their new location in Stream on SharePoint. Those redirect links were always meant to be temporary, and now that Microsoft is fully retiring Stream Classic, all redirect links will stop working after February 15, 2025.
If you personally downloaded and re-uploaded your videos from MS Stream Classic to Stream on SharePoint or OneDrive, this update does not apply to you.
Why is this change happening now?
The redirect service was a short-term solution to give users time to update their links. Now that this grace period is ending, Microsoft will disable all Stream Classic redirect links on February 15, 2025.
What do I need to do?
If you used the Migration Assistance service, your video links were automatically redirected. If you have not already done so, you now need to manually update your links anywhere they were shared (e.g., in Quercus Modules or Pages) to ensure continued access.

How do I know if my links need to be updated?
To check if the video links you shared in Quercus need to be updated, follow the decision tree below to determine if action is required.
You'll also find text instructions for checking your video URLs below:
- Find the Quercus Module or Page where you shared the video link.
- Hover over the link to see the URL at the bottom of your browser.
- Check the URL. If it starts with https://web.microsoftstream.com, it needs updating.

What if I miss the February 15 deadline?
After February 15, 2025, the redirect links for your migrated videos will stop working—but don’t worry, your videos are still there! You’ll just need to find them in OneDrive or SharePoint and update the links manually.
- Go to Stream and log in with your U of T Microsoft 365 account if needed.
- Select Created by me button that appears just above the videos to filter for the videos you uploaded.
