Have course-related video content that you’ve recorded yourself?
The ETO can provide light editing for instructor-recorded video, whether it was captured at home, in your office, or using tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. If you haven’t recorded your content yet, we can also help you plan your recording and recommend an approach that will make the editing process easier.
What type of video content can be edited?
This service is intended for course-related content that has been pre-recorded by the instructor. Examples include:
- Self-capture of instructor speaking directly to camera
- Self-capture of instructor while presenting slide content
- An interview with a guest, over ZOOM or Microsoft Teams
If possible, we recommend contacting us before you record. A short consultation can help you make decisions about your recording setup, format, and approach that can improve the finished video.
What does this service include?
This service focuses on light editing of existing footage, rather than a complete redesign or redevelopment of your content. Depending on your recording and project needs, editing may include:
- Basic video trimming: Removing unnecessary content at the beginning or end of a recording, cutting out long pauses or obvious mistakes, splitting a long recording into shorter topic-based segments
- Simple video edits: Improving colour and brightness, cropping or reframing, syncing slide content with the instructor's video when they were captured separately
- Simple graphic treatment: Adding a branded title intro/outro, lower thirds, section/topic title cards between segments
- Basic audio clean-up: Levelling volume, reducing minor background noise
Projects requiring more extensive production, content redesign, or advanced editing may fall outside the scope of this service. If you have a larger project in mind, book a consultation with the ETO and we can discuss the available options.
How much lead time do I need?
We do our best to accept new projects on a rolling basis. If possible, it is helpful to make this request one month before you plan to share the video so that we can allocate editing time. If there is more than one video, please book a consultation with the ETO to discuss the scope of the project and establish a realistic timeline.
How do I request a video edit?

Can I request this service if I don't already have recorded content?
If you don't currently have content to be edited (or are creating new content and would like like some editing assistance), we can still help! We just add a few steps to the process to help ensure that you're recording the highest quality content that you can (with whatever hardware and software that you have). You can also record with us in the studio. Depending on your project, we can help set you up for a self-recording session or work with you to capture your video.
