Microsoft is retiring Stream and moving its features into Clipchamp, creating a single, unified video solution within Microsoft 365.
What is happening?
Microsoft is unifying Stream and Clipchamp into a single, streamlined video solution within Microsoft 365. Going forward, the Stream brand will be phased out. The combined platform will simply be called Clipchamp, and it will include both Stream’s video management features (captions, transcripts, sharing, forms) and Clipchamp’s easy-to-use editing tools.

Why is this change happening?
Microsoft is consolidating its video platforms to provide a single, integrated experience for creating, editing, storing, and sharing videos inside Microsoft 365. With the new solution, you can:
- Record, edit, and enhance videos in one place.
- Automatically store your videos in OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams, just like other Microsoft 365 files.
- Use AI-powered tools such as transcription, captions, and text-to-speech.
- Add interactive features like forms and callouts.
- Benefit from built-in security and compliance tools already in Microsoft 365.

What is the timeline for this change?
The transition from Stream to Clipchamp is rolling out gradually. For now, you may still see both names referenced in documentation or interfaces, but over time the Stream brand will be phased out. All video management, creation, and editing will ultimately be supported within Clipchamp in Microsoft 365.
What do you need to do to prepare?
Continue using video tools as you normally would – no immediate changes to your workflow are required. In the coming weeks:
- Watch for updated guides and materials that reference Clipchamp rather than Stream.
- If you see Stream referenced in older resources, understand that it now refers to the unified Clipchamp video solution.
