In this issue, we’re recapping the EdTech Workshop (ETWS) 2023: CTRL +Shift! Held on May 17, 2023 in the Myhal Centre, the Workshop saw about 275 people vie for one button maker (who knew buttons would be so popular?).

This month we’re focusing on the upcoming EdTech Workshop 2023: CTRL +shift. As of sending this newsletter, we’re at 215 registrations (register before May 12 to ensure a printed nametag)!

The ETO is gearing up for the biennial EdTech Workshop, an event hosted by the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering (FASE) and open (no charge) to the U of T community (learn more about the Workshop).

Things are looking up – we’re a few weeks out from Reading Week, the days are getting longer, and we’re finally seeing some snow (for the skiers and snowboarders out there).

Welcome back! We hope that you had a wonderful break – now that we’re back, we suspect that many of you are using the week before classes begin to prepare for your upcoming courses.

The ETO wishes you a restful and relaxing end-of-term and holiday break! Reflecting the University closure over the holiday break, the FASE EdTech Office will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 21, 2022, and re-opening on Monday, January 02, 2023.

We have to ask: are you a costume person or not so much? The ETO team runs the gamut on Hallowe’en feelings.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the great return to campus, the ETO took a moment to pause and think about what our work looks like post emergency online teaching and learning.

This year, we’re seeing two interestingly opposite EdTech trends – for each request about adding a new EdTech tool, we’re seeing another from someone who wants to scale back.

As we head into the dog days of summer (have you heard that phrase enough?), we’d like to use the July EdTech Tip Sheet to focus on identifying what you want and need to do before your first class.

While we don’t have any desire to wish away summer, we do want to get you thinking about your fall courses (see the start-of-term checklist)!
