Working Safely with Sharps

Project Description

Motivation: Knowing how to Work Safely with Sharps is everyone’s responsibility. In this module, you will learn how to prevent and minimize sharps injury to yourself and others, how to safely dispose of sharps, and how to document and report sharps injuries. Please note that this module is just one part of your training and does not replace hands-on safety training.

Module Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recognize different kinds of sharps and the types of injuries they can cause
  2. Review strategies for preventing and reducing risk of sharps injuries (including proper handling and disposal)
  3. Identify correct procedures for getting treatment, reporting, and following-up on sharps injuries and near-misses
