Unit 1 – Chapter 1

Module Overview

This week’s material is mostly stuff from high school, but it may be worth watching even if you are familiar with the topics.  You will get to see how we plan to run this course and you will be able to refresh your memory regarding trigonometry.

Learning Outcomes

  • Sections 1.1 and 1.2 give us the basic definitions for functions.  They may clarify some small details that are often confused in a high school presentation.
  • Section 1.3 deals with inverses and talks a bit about logarithms.
  • Section 1.4 is trigonometry.  We introduce trigonometry from the beginning, using the Unit Circle (students from Windsor will know this method as the Winding Function).
