We’re getting ready to close up shop for the holiday closure! On the content production side, this means wrapping up the lecture capture program for the term, sneaking in a few scratch track recordings (see our prep sheet to learn more about scratch tracks) for the latest online course we’re working on, and (of course!) putting the lightboard into action.

We’re starting by revisiting a tech tip that we got a bit wrong but that’s ok because it ended up being a very helpful Faculty Question of the Week (see Tip 01). We find ourselves rushing right through the middle of term, which means it’s the perfect time for mid-term feedback surveys! We have some tips for implementing a feedback mechanism in your course (see Tip 04).

The 2023/2024 Lecture Capture Program is up and running, Quercus tickets have slowed a little bit, and we’re wrapping up work on the last of the modules for Exploration, Studies, Resources & Reserves (ESRR).

It’s Quercus time! Yes, Quercus is part of our EdTech-y lives all year, but it’s especially prominent as we start a new term. This Tip Sheet catches you up with what’s new in Quercus as well as highlighting things to think about while you’re developing your Quercus courses.

It’s time to start thinking about your Quercus course! We’ve hit that part of summer where September is coming up quick and we’ll take a moment to remind you how we can help as you look towards building (or copying) your Fall courses.

We’re heavy into our content production projects, focusing on the Fall 2023 release of a new online course: Exploration, Studies, Resources and Reserves (ESRR) (learn more about the Mining Industry Management Program (MIMP)).

In this issue, we’re recapping the EdTech Workshop (ETWS) 2023: CTRL +Shift! Held on May 17, 2023 in the Myhal Centre, the Workshop saw about 275 people vie for one button maker (who knew buttons would be so popular?).

This month we’re focusing on the upcoming EdTech Workshop 2023: CTRL +shift. As of sending this newsletter, we’re at 215 registrations (register before May 12 to ensure a printed nametag)!

The ETO is gearing up for the biennial EdTech Workshop, an event hosted by the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering (FASE) and open (no charge) to the U of T community (learn more about the Workshop).

Things are looking up – we’re a few weeks out from Reading Week, the days are getting longer, and we’re finally seeing some snow (for the skiers and snowboarders out there).

Welcome back! We hope that you had a wonderful break – now that we’re back, we suspect that many of you are using the week before classes begin to prepare for your upcoming courses.

The ETO wishes you a restful and relaxing end-of-term and holiday break! Reflecting the University closure over the holiday break, the FASE EdTech Office will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 21, 2022, and re-opening on Monday, January 02, 2023.
