Faculty Question of the Week (October 9, 2025)

Faculty Question of the Week (October 9)

Each week we'll use this space to share a question (or more!) that we've received about Quercus and other Academic Toolbox tools.

This week's question is: What is my option now that the HTML file I uploaded to Quercus isn’t working?

Q: For the course I’m teaching this semester, I created a slide package using iSpring and uploaded all the files (they are all HTML files) to Quercus Files. I then linked these files on the Home page of my Quercus course. This setup worked perfectly in the past few years. However, this year, students reported that the links are not working. Would you be able to help troubleshoot this?

A: The issue you describe is occurring because of a recent update to the Files area interface — preview links are no longer supported. This change affects links to index.htmlfiles that were previously used to launch content created with e-authoring tools like iSpring, Articulate Rise, or Adobe Captivate. To share your content with students, you can follow the steps below:

Export your file as SCORM

To share your content with students, you’ll now need to export the file package as a SCORM package and upload it to your course using the SCORM tool in Quercus. This ensures that the presentation loads and functions properly within Quercus. ISpring should have an option to convert your files to SCORM.

Upload your SCORM package to Quercus

Once you convert your content to SCORM, you can follow the steps in our guide to upload your SCORM package to your course: How do I upload a SCORM package to my Quercus course?. If you don’t need to track completion data for your students, we recommend selecting the Page option as your import type. Once all the pages are created, you can share the links to those pages with students in Quercus.

Note: E-authoring tools such as iSpring, Articulate 360, and Adobe Captivate are not part of the University’s Academic Toolbox, and licenses are not provisioned or supported by the ETO or centrally. Faculty or departments using these or similar e-authoring tools are responsible for maintaining their own licenses.
