From their website, Camtasia is "A powerful, yet easy-to-use screen recorder, Camtasia helps you create professional videos without having to be a video pro. Standard Proviso: ANY files that you create should be saved and backed up for future use and back up.

How do we use this tool?

Instructors: Instructors use the Camtasia Studio Suite to create videos in their office. As a suite of tools, it includes a screen recorder. This allows instructors to recored whatever is on their screen (as well as concerrently recording audio). Once recorded, Instructors will use the Editing tool to edit their videos - perhaps adding in another piece, cutting out a mistake, or re-recording their audio. Once the editing is completed, the file is rendered and is published to an online video hosting service (like YouTube or MyMedia).

EdTech Office: We use this tool for "light" video production. By light, I mean basic editing and graphic insertion. Though we lean more heavily on tools like Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects, there's always room for a quick edit tool. If an instructor is using this tool and sends us a Camtasia Project file, we can easily contribute to the process by editing it.
